The woman was visiting the man with her two children

The National Police have arrested a man who had been holding his ex-wife and two children hostage since the 5th of May
The ordeal for the woman and the two children aged 2 began when they came over from the UK for a visit so the man could see his children
Police in Spain were allerted by British Police after the woman’s sister reported the situation after returning to the UK.The sister had been released by the man but he kept his ex-wide and the children captive in his home in Alhaurin El Grande
Following the report officers from   the UDEV specialist kidnapping and extortion unit of the Judicial Police in Spain tracked down the man who was living here under a false name and began a  surveillance operation on the property and then arrested the man as he left the property.
 During the investigationb it was discoverd that the man was wanted by Police in the UK and was a European Search, Arrest and Detention Order had been issued against him
The British man  fled to Spain in 2010 with his ex-wife while on a prison pass for a crime he had committed in 1993. She left him in January  and returned to the UK
It is alleged that during their time in captivity the man threatend his ex wuife with a gun and she also suffered different injuries.
Repatriation procedures will now be handled by the National Court
