María Esther Jiménez Murder Trial Starts

According to reports in the press the trial of the youth acused of causing the death of 13 year old María Esther Jiménez in Arriate last January began today
It is understood that  17 year old Rubén V claimed he was innocent on the first day of the trial
It is reported that he faces  a possible eight years in internment and another five years on supervised release which is the maximum sentence which can be requested under the Juvenile Law,
According to the reports  the family of the victim have said the maximum sentence should be life imprisonment. Reports says that they are campaigning for changes to the law  and have  collected 60,000 signatures in support of their goal.
