Minimum services were available in schools across the country

A Genral Strike by the Education sector took place today
Around the country  around a million education workers  and 7.5 million students joined together along with parents are taking part in protests against the Governments  3 billion € of spending cuts in education.
The changes in the Education spending will see university students having to pay a further 540 € more in fees, which many claim will result in a decrease in people attending further education and many having to leave their studies
Some claims say the cuts will result in around 100,000 job loses in the Education sector.
Schools opened with the Minimum services which generally meant the school director and one member of staff remained on site while infant schools were opened by the director and a member of the staff from the kitchen
